For the whole month of October, I will be shooting nothing but monster and Halloween inspired toy photos. Most of the subjects will be toys that I have never shot before. I have some great shots planned, some of which I have been wanting to shoot for a very long time.

Some of my favorite shots from my most recent shoot for Mezco Toyz.






These shots are inspired by actual scenes from the films Friday the 13th Pt. 3D and Nightmare on Elm Street Pt. 4, The Dream Master, though I took some liberties with the camera angles and lighting on some of them. None of the Freddy shots are from actual scenes in the film, because Freddy appears in surgical scrubs for an extremely short time, but they are still very inspired by the scene. The window/wall I used for Jason, and wall I used for Debbie are hand crafted. The Jason shot with the axe in his head is from the end of the Friday film, one of the original 3D scenes, and I tried to emulate the 3D effect.

The last of my Masters of the Universe portrait shots until Webstor's release later this month. They have been a lot of fun to take, and I hope you have enjoyed them.






I will continue this series as the figures are released (once a month). Also expect some action shots eventually.

When I am dying to shoot, but the rain keeps me from shooting outside, and I am too lazy to set up for a major indoor shoot, say like yesterday, little gems like the following tend to happen.

On assignment from Mezco Toyz a few months back, I photographed their San Diego Comic Con. exclusive comic book version Hellboy Mez-Itz 6" designer vinyl figure. The following are some of my favorite photos from the shoot.

Mer-Man is another figure from Mattel's Masters of the Universe Classics line. A fantastic line and the Mer-Man really turned out great. The best part about him, is that he comes with two heads. One head that resembles the original 80's action figure, and another head (the one you see in this shot) that is modeled after the art on the back of the original figure's package.



I think that most of the general public that have heard of The Maxx are those that caught the animated version on MTV's Liquid Television. The animated show was excellent, and there is a very good reason for that. Because it followed the comic to a T. I can't recommend the comic book enough, it is my all time favorite, and you should be able to find all the issues collected in trade paperbacks. The Pink Fairy Isz that you see in this photo never appeared on the television show, as they came later in The Maxx's comic run. It was a nice surprise that Shocker Toys chose to release one with their new Indie Spotlight Maxx action figure.
